Kamifuda Demo Update

In preparation for the upcoming release we've updated the demo.

New Art 

We have some pretty new backgrounds that were previously missing from certain scenes. Various story sequences have been visually improved, with new animations and sound effects.

Reworked Duel System

You'll notice the duels work a bit differently now. Completing rituals now requires a "blood cost" - this is paid by damaging your opponent (or letting them damage themselves). Overall the new system really breaks up the pace of the game and adds a lot more control over when rituals come into play.

Several new mechanics have been added to complement this new system, including "Ritualizer", which makes a spell's damage count twice towards paying blood cost.

Reworked Progression

The game's rewards and shops have been rebalanced. Our main goal was to make the variety of cards you have at the start of the game less overwhelming, by limiting them to only the schools  of magic that you're familiar with at that point. We've also added a new element to the map - 'Mystery' encounters.

Quality of Life

Finally some general quality of life improvements - we've vastly expanded the options menu, adding re-bindable keys and various gameplay preference things. You can also adjust how quickly dialogue goes away during duels.

On the UI side, we've changed the spell description header so that it's easier to tell what school a spell belongs to.
